What is the Abortion Pill?
The abortion pill is actually a two-pill regimen approved by the FDA for use in women up to 10 weeks after their last menstrual period (LMP). The first pill is called mifepristone and the second is called misoprostol. The mifepristone pill is taken orally to block your body’s natural production of progesterone. This causes the death of the embryo. Approximately 48 hours later, the misoprostol is taken. This causes heavy cramping and bleeding and aborts the embryo out of the uterus.
